BRIEF SUMMARY:
Dr. P. Joseph Frawley graduated from Medical School in 1976 as the President of the A.O.A. Medical Honor Society. He completed a Rotating in Medicine Internship at Harbor General Hospital and a Residency in Internal Medicine at the Sepulveda V.A. Hospital where he was named Senior Resident of the Year. He received his Board Certification in Medicine in 1979. After completion of his Residency he undertook from 1979 to 1993 the Medical Directorship of the Schick Shadel Hospital of Santa Barbara which specialized in the treatment of chemical dependency. Dr. Frawley has written a book for patients entitled, "Addiction:Who is in Control?". He has participated in the development of specific treatment programs for cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin dependence and worked as a smoking therapist prior to entering medical school. He is a past president of the California Society of Addiction Medicine and past Board Member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He has been Certified in Addiction Medicine since 1983. Dr. Frawley has served on the Physician Wellbeing Committee for the Medical Society of Santa Barbara as well as the Cottage Hospital and St. Francis Hospital Committees. He is currently engaged principally in the private practice of Internal Medicine, and is one of the attending physicians at the Cottage Hospital Chemical Dependency Program in Santa Barbara, California. In 1998 he was named Homecare Physician of the Year by the Santa Barbara Visiting Nurse Association. He is married since 1980 and has four children.
