| Specialty: ZymaX Forensics is an environmental and geochemical laboratory and consulting company supporting attorneys, insurance companies and environmental consultants in assessment, remediation and litigation of spills in the environment. ZymaX Forensics performs specialized analytical testing of petroleum related and other spills with the aim of determining the responsible parties, i.e. • what was spilled • how much is there • when it was spilled and who did it? We have developed or modified analyses that allow us to: • identify the types of products released • distinguished products from different sources • estimate the mixing ratios of products • estimate the age of the product • assign probable responsibility for sources of the contamination • give expert witness testimony • represent either plaintiffs or defendants Interpretation of the analytical data requires specialized geochemical expertise that many environmental consulting companies do not possess in-house. Our consultants interpret the data, which subsequently is included in their reports. We often perform expert testimony about our findings during discovery or at trial. Expert Witnesses: Dr. Alan Jeffrey, Senior Geochemist, has a Ph. D. in Oceanography from Texas A&M University, USA and an M.S. in Organic Chemistry from Queen's University, Canada. He has over 20 years of US and international experience in environmental science and geochemistry. Dr. Robert I. Haddad, Principal Consultant, has a Ph. D. in Chemical Oceanography from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a B.S. in Geology from University of California, Los Angeles. He has 17 years experience in using organic geochemistry to understand and quantatively evaluate mechanisms and processes by which organic matter is cycled in aquatic and terrestrial environments. Dr. Isaac R. Kaplan, Senior Consultant, is Professor Emeritus of Geology and Geochemistry at UCLA (retired 1993). D's, 3 MS's, 30 BS/BA's. 41 employees have degrees in chemistry, biochemistry, other science or the arts.
