• 32 years as a tape engineer and tape recorder design engineer at Ampex Corp. Ampex is the company that developed both the audio tape recorder and the videotape recorder.
• World authority on tape problems and restoration, specializing in analyzing unusual tape and tape recorder problems.
• Legal consultant/expert witness regarding problems with magnetic tapes. Expert witness for many cases, including murder cases and civil cases.
• Technical Advisor to the U.S. National Archives Nixon White House (Watergate) Tape Project.
• Member of special Library of Congress Task Force on Video and TV Heritage (completed in 1998).
• Consultant for NASA for determining the problem with the Jupiter Galileo probe tape recorder.
• Advisor to FBI, Library of Congress, U.S. National Archives, NTSB (National Transportion Safety Board).
• Member, Ford Foundation Advisory Committee for preserving historical material in tropical countries.
• Presented seminars at UCLA, Canadian Maritime Provinces, Southeast Asia, U.C. San Diego, and the George Eastman Film School in Rochester, NY.

• Chaired two International Conferences on tape problems -- one at the U.S. National Archive and one in Brazil.
• Wrote several Guidelines and Handbooks for Care, Handling, and Storage of video and audio tapes.
• Invented the original instant replay (1964). Co-invented the currently used Instant Replay and shared an Emmy award for it.
• Member of the team that developed the first home videotape recorder.
• Invented In-Flight video, which is now common on all commercial flights.
• Recipient of several Film and Video awards.
