- 32 years as a tape engineer and tape recorder design engineer at Ampex Corp. Ampex is the company that developed both the audio tape recorder and the videotape recorder.
- World authority on tape problems and restoration, specializing in analyzing unusual tape and tape recorder problems.
- Legal consultant/expert witness regarding problems with magnetic tapes. Expert witness for many cases, including murder cases and civil cases.
- Technical Advisor to the U.S. National Archives Nixon White House (Watergate) Tape Project.
- Member of special Library of Congress Task Force on Video and TV Heritage (completed in 1998).
- Consultant for NASA for determining the problem with the Jupiter Galileo probe tape recorder.
- Advisor to FBI, Library of Congress, U.S. National Archives, NTSB (National Transportion Safety Board).
- Member, Ford Foundation Advisory Committee for preserving historical material in tropical countries.

- Invented the original instant replay (1964). Co-invented the currently used Instant Replay and shared an Emmy award for it.
- Member of the team that developed the first home videotape recorder.
- Invented In-Flight video, which is now common on all commercial flights.
- Recipient of several Film and Video awards.
