Summary of Experience:

Marc Taylor and his staff of experts at Technical Associates, Inc. have been court qualified in DNA analysis, GSR analysis, and General Criminalistics in 33 different states as well as overseas, in both civil and criminal cases.  Marc has testified as an expert on both PCR and RFLP based DNA analysis performed at Technical Associates as well as other laboratories on more than 100 occasions.  He has testified for both the defense and the prosecution.

Marc has developed and taught a lecture and lab course in forensic DNA analysis for the Criminalistics Master of Science program at California State University, Los Angeles.  He has been hired to lecture to DNA analysts at the Ventura County Crime Lab to assist in their preparation for court testimony.

Technical Associates, Inc. participates in periodic external proficiency tests to verify the accuracy of our DNA typing, and these surveys have affirmed the validity of our procedures and the accuracy of our DNA typing results.  The techniques developed at Technical Associates have been adopted and are utilized in numerous laboratories across the country.

Marc and the Technical Associates, Inc. staff consult in Criminalistics and DNA analysis from their new laboratory in Ventura, California.  The laboratory performs PCR case review, consultation and testing.   We have developed extremely sensitive procedures for testing all types of forensic samples, including sex determination of human DNA samples in criminal and civil cases.

Technical Associates, Inc. currently employs the following DNA analysis methods: the various PCR based Short Tandem Repeat (STR) multiplex systems including the AmpFlSTR Profiler Plus and COfiler systems including sex determination utilizing the Amelogenin gene, as well as Y-STR DNA analysis.

We also work with attorneys to educate them about DNA, in how to utilize DNA in court, assist with cross-examination of opposing experts, assist in presentations to juries, testimony and various other services.

In addition to DNA analysis, we perform general criminalistics, such as: crime scene reconstruction, evidence collection, gunshot residue (GSR) particle analysis on SEM-EDS kits, tool-mark analysis, shoe-print comparisons, tire-track comparisons, firearms comparison, reconstruction of gunshot trajectory, and blood spatter analysis.
